My cut out Ranunculus in a sugar-sweet pastel bouquet

My cut out Ranunculus in a sugar-sweet pastel bouquet

I was experimenting with cutting out shapes, I think its really fun because you can change the feel easily with the composition&its like arranging a bouquet in real life, one flower at a time.

selfportrait

Its been a while since I did a selfportrait…so the other day I got out the oil pastels and sat myself down on a pillow on the floor in front of a mirror…I didn’t know if I should portray myself as happy or what, from a weird angel or draw my hands in.. so I just started drawing and ended up with this.

Ateneum Helsinki

Some of my quick sketches of snowy paintings by Pekka Halonen that were in the show.

In the Christmas holidays I went to a wonderful exhibition in Ateneum in Helsinki, Finland. I only had one (!) hour to see the exhibition before closing time and was amazed by the size of it! There were so many rooms I had to run through half of it, realizing that there were so many paintings I really loved!! Mostly by Pekka Halonen, I liked the way he painted trees and snow! Finland has such beautiful nature, it made me really happy to see it painted there in sometimes a very impressionistic style – which I love! Curvy tomato branches, colourful laundry and lakeside houses – who would not want such a life? It seemed they found a slice of heaven in this place and painted it as such. A real pleasure to see and I wished for more time there.

The clothes are a-drying and red berries are in the trees! More sketches of some Pekka Halonen paintings
